We Need Your Help..
Mrs. Cathy Fossati came into my office September
2, 2010 seeking help with burying her husband. She was in
financial need to have her husband buried with dignity. Her
husband had been sick for several years and lay dying in a
Hospice home. She lives locally and her husband was a member of
the American Legion in Seaford.
Mr. Fossati passed away Saturday September 4,
2010 after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Fossati is a honorably
discharged veteran who served one year, four months and fourteen
days overseas during his term in the U.S. Army in the early
sixties.
After being quoted $9,000.00 for a modest
burial, Mrs. Fossati approached UVBH for assistance in raising
the funds needed. We referred her to Mike Grant, a funeral
director in Brentwood, who is handling the funeral.
We requested Mr. Grant's assistance so that Mrs.
Fossati could arrange her husband’s funeral. Mr. Grant graciously
reduced the cost to Mrs. Fossati to approximately $3,000.00.
Mrs. Fossati has asked United Veterans Beacon House to help her
raise the $3,000.00 needed to bury her husband. United Veterans
Beacon House will donate $250.00 and the Suffolk County Court
Officers Association has pledged a donation as well.
We hope anyone reading this will find it in
their heart to make even the smallest of
donations to this cause. If you know of someone or an
organization that may be able to assist in this fund drive,
please pass her request for assistance on to the Veteran
organizations you deal with.
Mrs. Fossati has two children to support and is
currently unemployed and does not know at this time what, if any
benefits her husband will be entitled to from his service status. It has been a rough two years for Mrs. Fossati and
her children, caring for and than finding out there was no hope
for her husband.
